I thought the next piece I put on after I have explained this, may give you a chuckle This is what I have done I have bought myself a SONY recorder, with a digital dictation machine. ‘With the help of my clever friend of course!’ Anyway, one of the reasons I get so behind with my blog is so many things happen in my life I get waylaid. I also forget things that I think would be interesting. I’m sure many of you will be like me, I get my best stories in my head first thing in the morning anytime around 5-6 o-clock. Having a problem with my eyes, ‘I don’t really want to open them!’ I asked my friend to come with me to get a digital voice recorder. ‘My friends will tell you I can talk in my sleep, so no problem!’ I wanted one the size of a brick, but would have had to go to the children’s department to get one. ‘Not being good for my street cred, and knowing my friend would sort it out for me I bought this rather intelligent looking one and thought it was going to sort all my problems.’ Having a digital diction machine was a bonus. But no, too easy. This is what happened.
This is what I said into the machine. (Hi all, Lilian here looking forward to using this.) ‘I stopped here as I read what it decided I had said!’ Tried again, and below is the result, I guess I need some help!!
(Hi all up and an onion at a time of the up the of them at the door flew into the Mike on the water on their the right along a while you the had)’The End.’ That’s my bit on here, and it made me laugh out loud.
I hope you found it as funny as I did because I’ve already written what you are going to read after the above and wasn’t feeling happy.
Can’t apologise again for being so late as it would be rude to you all. Life isn’t easy for any of us but some get more than they deserve. Just to say I do get happier further on. ‘I think!’
I am going to rant and rant here also!
Why on EARTH are all these Mega rich people being allowed to milk our EARTH? ‘Think about it.’ It belongs to every human and living being here in this sad world. What on EARTH can they do with the amount of money they control?
As an ordinary woman I think about things in a house keeping way! To me it’s like a mean and selfish husband who doesn’t give a damn for anyone but himself. He stands by and watches his family starve to death while he counts just how much he owns. As that cruel husband starves his family, so these people who are so full of greed, and avarice are starving our world. What will they have at the end of the day? A deserted barren world and nothing to do but count their money, as they wait for the world to end!
This last couple of weeks well, perhaps it will explain a little of why I am so late, and angry! If I tell you it has been an awfully sad time. A very dear and lovely young woman who hasn’t had the easiest of life has had a tragic loss. A loss that just shouldn’t have happened and it just made me so sad and feel that life can be terribly unkind at times.
Talking about better things. I Had a great time in York, I know I have already gone on about being invited to be a speaker at The International Women’s week there. That was Sunday, and I was on at 2pm until 4pm at the Basement, City screen. My lady who had invited me was Rose Drew, who is as she says, a not-so-silent poet. I decided to go Thursday until Monday. I just needed to find a little me time, and York was the place to find it! It is medication to the eyes, so beautiful1.
Their buses were like Rolls Royce’s to our poor buses in my little town. ‘Little in stature, but big in talent.’ We build the Trident and although it isn’t the nicest of things to build, the clever team who build it are the best in the world. ‘Proud; not me!’
Well, I was invited to talk about my life as I have met many new friends from something I said about Annie Lennox on FB, she was saying that women become invisible around 50s to 60s. I saw so many young women saying they felt the same. I told them I’m not invisible to any one even in my late seventies. I had way over 5,000 likes, and that’s when I met many lovely friends on FB. Luckily I also have many really great friends here. Also they wanted me to talk about my books. ’That’s The Way It Was. This is my story of a child’s eye view as they were going through WW2 in our shipbuilding town as it was blitzed and evacuation started to change their lives. The other story is about the life of young women and mothers as they too went through the dangerous times without the support of their men. It changed many lives as they went to work in the shipyard, drove milk carts, and worked on the land. It is called ‘That’s The Way It Is. It wasn’t the same after the war because most women had become much stronger and still wanted to work. Many of the second stories are told to me as I read to a grand bunch of older people in the different venue’s I go to. I have to say, some of them tell me stories I can’t write in my books. Both my books although told in Novella style have been put into the archives for posterity, as they are true history books. I guess I’m telling all this to very many of you that have heard it all before. ’My excuse is, I’m old so I’m allowed to repeat myself, It’s expected of me.’
I had to change twice to get to York, it’s across country! Luckily I realised I would need help as I had a large suitcase and two changes. I travelled with Trans Pennine Rail. They could not have been more helpful. They were there immediately when the train pulled in and I needed them. Then they just showed me to a café or a, seat if the train wasn’t in. All this without any fuss. I didn’t need a wheel chair just someone to handle my suitcase and who didn’t mind walking a bit slower than usual. I went from Barrow-In-Furness to Preston, then from Preston to Manchester Pic. I had time to sit and watch the world go by there as there was a 30minute wait. I was just sitting there minding my own business, ‘I’m a people watcher.’ Then a young woman came up to me and asked if she could speak to me. She was a young reporter and had a huge young cameraman with her.
I’m up for anything so said, ‘Yes if I can help you.’
She said, ‘Could I ask you what you think about the eleven and a half days the line was going to be closed because of the new infrastructure that was being put in.’ I hadn’t a clue about it. So she explained it to me and of course it was going to be much better after it was finished. Of course there were a lot of people complaining about the delays and inconvenience it would cause. This is Manchester, the start of our North West. Anyone who knows me knows how much I complain about the neglect the North West, ‘We commoners.’ Are usually ignored by our government except when they want more taxes etc. I said in no uncertain terms that anything that improved our transport in the north was fine for me, and quite a bit more about the neglect we Northerners suffer. She was delighted and asked me to repeat all I had said in front of the camera. So I did!
On the way back I was diverted from Preston to Lancaster and when I arrived at Lancaster there was another very nice man waiting for me. If you ever have to take the train from Morecambe to Barrow, you will know what I mean when I say we are neglected. The train was in, but it had to go to Morecambe first. The man who was looking after me, said come with me. I followed him and I was pleasantly surprised, he asked the train driver to let me onto the empty train. It was so that I could have a decent seat, so off I went to Morecambe and back.
I realised why, it was like a cattle truck coming back, and must have been 50 years old. Just one coach and people were crushed in. It took me an extra half hour to get home but was worth it for the comfort of a seat. I have to go, I had more to write but need to make my dinner and get Sooty ready to go home to his owner.
So once again sorry for being so long and with a bit of luck I will have more interesting things to talk about. That is when I remember to take my little machine to bed, so that when I wake up early I can talk to it.
Bye everyone, Be happy, life's too short not to be!
Take care Lilian
