Just want to say hello. I'm home now and the weather is wonderful, looking forward to seeing all my friends and family here. Also had a wonderful time travelling but now need at least a week to rest. Then I can start to plan another journey, I still want to go back to Malta. Before it's to late!
I had a 27 hour journey home but had lots of help and met some very nice and interesting people on the way. Even had two bottles of wine bought for me, to have with my dinner on the flight! 'Just the small ones.' Thought they would make me sleep, 'They didn't!' I can't sleep, even on a long flight, I watched two films and enjoyed them. Also I think I'm too busy watching people and making up stories about them. I don't think anyone is just ordinary! Now I'm home, I am going to settle down to do some more of my third story, 'I think.'
I had a very nice comment from a lady I know, she called me a recycled teenager. I loved it, and would like it if more people got in touch. I guess you will have realised I am quite out going. I often feel quite lonely when I write my blog. Well that's a bit of a fib. I just can't understand how so many people read my blog who I don't know, because I have a lot of friends, but not hundreds.
Anyway I'm rambling, and I'm hungry which makes me crochety. So Bye Friends (-: x
I haven't mentioned The Fourth of July yet, and of course it is a very important day here. In Sun City, which I think I have said, 'Is a retirement area with around three thousand homes.' The Fourth Of July was celebrated at the huge Club House. They had a flag lowering ceromony and there were very many veterans there. It was a very heart felt moment as they lowered the flag, we all think about our young soldiers who have been injured or losing their lives even now. I stood in the front and really enjoyed watching the service. 'I only wish we Brit's were as patriotic as everyone is over here.'
I also stood listening when an auther who had written books about the War of Independance stood up to talk. He really got into his stride and people started to wonder away. I on the other hand stood and listened to him talking about the brutal Brits who made a habit of hanging, drawing and quartering thier heroes. After all it would have been rude to walk away. I did want to tell him that in Britain at that time you could probably have been hung, drawn and quartered for stealing a loaf of bread even if you were starving. After that we were invited to a huge cook out, at Candy and Jim's farm.
Here I am back in Sun City after five extremely busy and lovely days in The Smokey Mountains in Tennessee. It was all I had been told it would be, and more. We went to a show, in Gatlinburgh it was Country Music and the cast were very talented. We ate at a restraunt call, Bubba Gumps they have the best fish there that I've ever tasted. The shrimp were not like ours, 'They were massive!' It has taken it's name from the film, Forest Gump, Tom Hanks was the star in it. Although I did think Bubba Gumps restraunt in New Orleans, just beat this one for taste, it was still really good.
We had long drives up into the mountains, and there were beautiful waterfalls, giant trees and bears, but I didn't meet one. I wondered how people could live up there in the winter.
Well all good things come to an end. Three more nights and then off to Charlotte to fly home. It's going to be a long haul as I have to wait six hours in NYC airport for my connection. I love New York and would be happy to spend six months there, and if I was a bit braver I would nip out for a little look around again. But as I can get lost walking down a straight road I dare not take the chance. It's twenty seven years since I changed planes in this airport and I still remember the thrill I had when I stepped outside of the airport just to say I had been in New York. Since then I have had two very exciting visits there.
I have had a very good time and haven't had time to write any more of my next book, 'COS THAT'S THE WAY IT HAD TO BE. I had thought I would have had lots of quiet times. I haven't! I'm not complaining, when you get to my age you are grateful for any adventure that is thrown at you. I have to go now so will catch up later
Bye for now all. Take care and be happy. Lilian
