again, I do try to write every two weeks or so, but the holidays have thrown my
timing out. As you can see still not managed to get pics on quite right. Doing my best they came up as huge and I managed to cut them down but still haven't worked out how to get them together. I know I have done it once but I guess that was a fluke.
I am writing this in Blackpool, Just a weekend with the girls. I know, ‘Girls you are saying?’
Well loosely to me they are girls as I’m the oldest.
Last year we went to Llandudno. Although the weather was the same there as it is here, which is rain and more rain, I enjoy the crack as we say in the North West. ‘And probably everywhere else!’ I think I have already commented on visiting Weather Spoons there and it was a credit to them. It was an old theatre and picture house and they had kept a lot of the amazing features. Llandudno is
slightly different to Blackpool!
Back to Blackpool. We are staying in the Hotel Elgin, which at the price we have paid is a very nice hotel. The food and service is excellent. Compared to the room I had on my own in Malta it is a little cramped for three women to be sharing. You know what we women are like, I have taken enough clothes to last me a week or two and this trip is only two nights. ‘There was just one wardrobe and I
wondered where they were going to put their stuff!’ But we managed!
Last time I was here, was five years ago. The group decided to pop into the pub next door on the first night. We sat on a small balcony; just three steps up. On the three steps I took going down,
‘For my first glass of red wine I must add.’ I managed to slip off the top stair and landed up having to visit Blackpool hospital as I had torn a ligament and sprained my knee. Of course I never even saw a glass of red wine, and did anyone believe me when I said I hadn’t had a drink? No!! Of course I couldn’t go shopping, but as we were booked in on a trip to Funny Girls, the next night. I
soldiered on with friends linking arms either side so that I could get on the coach, I managed it. Still no red wine because of the pain killers! Funny Girls was quite an experience and I enjoyed it.
Since I was last here in Blackpool, they have state of the art and very smart two years old Trams. On Saturday afternoon I walked down the prom to take a few photos, as the weather was quite pretty, and we had, had a lot of rain.
After my walk I decided to get on a tram to go back to the hotel, the conductor was very chatty and told me about the new vehicles. He told me each coach had cost two Million, two hundred thousand each, and 40 million people had used them since they started. They could get 78 people on each one during the summer and special times like the illuminations. There were three coaches on the one I was riding in. The conductor told me they had, 'Lost over, one and a half billion, in the years they had been running.' From what I could gather it was mainly because of the concessions that we have as pensioners. The problem is that lots of councils are not paying the bill because of the cuts. So they are pretty sure that from the beginning of April they are going to have to charge everyone to travel on them. It is still a third less to travel on them from Blackpool to Fleetwood return, than we pay on the bus from Barrow to Ulverston return.
I was enjoying it, because a lot of other passengers were joining in the conversation, so I decided to stay on and to have a fleeting visit to Fleetwood. The tram was returning to Blackpool after a five minute stop so having asked the conductor if it was Ok, I hopped off and took some pics of the sea front. Then took one of the conductor walking up to the tram. He offered to take one of me
standing by it and I did. I woke up this morning and realised I had turned into an ANORAK!!
Since New Year I haven’t had a lot to write about, as no doubt you have already guessed. It is the oddest couple of weeks after all the festivities isn’t it? I have had a couple of very nice bargains in the sales, but as I recycle most of my clothes, I don’t spend a lot anyway. By recycle I mean I shop mainly at the charity shops. I have more M&S, Per Unna, and Debenhams clothes in my closet
than I could afford if I bought them in the stores at sales prices. I often go out completely dressed up and the whole outfit has only cost around twenty pounds. That is except for my shoes, not that I have a shoe fetish, I think shoes are pretty personal, like under wear! I don’t mind charity shopping,
mainly because I can I feel a bit holier than thou. I went to Freeport, Sunday and found some boots with £31 off, so of course, I'm happy.
As I lay in bed in a morning I have radio two on and as I lie there I think about all kjnd of things. My phone lets me know it needed charging, I plugged it in, and started to wonder, why do we not get electrocuted by touching the small piece of metal on the end. If the plug of the kettle was unplugged but still turned on from the wall, I have always thought it was live. Also, daft as it is if you leave the plug in does electric leak from it, like water does. I know you wouldn't see it, I'm not altogether Ga Ga.
I have taken today off to unpack and write to you all because the rest of the week I have to organise a signing for my next little book, 'Cos That's the Way It Is. I have had to wait to get some more as I think, I have already told you I have found two wrong words in the last ones. I have given a lot away to friends and they haven't noticed those two wrong words but I know they are there. I have had a lot of positive feedback. I will of course let everyone know when I have arranged the signing. Have to brag about something.
Now I going on a bit, so will close and say Bye all, take care.
